Zoolander 2 confirmed by Ben Stiller!

Ben Stiller has been talking about making a “Zoolander” sequel ever since the first film hit theaters. But then came the bad news, that Paramount Pictures was not willing to fund the second installment.

But just recently we posted a leaked Paramount email that “Zoolander 2″ was being written by Justin Theroux (Iron Man 2, Tropic Thunder). And now comes word direct from Ben Stiller that the sequel is in the works. He wrote on his Twitter account: “Is ‘Zoolander 2′ happening? — Yes. Working on it now with my buddy Justin.”

Stiller previously stated that the sequel would focus on Derek (Stiller) and Hansel (Owen Wilson) ten years later. In the movie, nobody knows who they are and they are working hard to re-invent themselves. “Derek gets hired to be a personal model for an Arab Sheikh and he finds out models are being turned into oil,” he said.

Jonah Hill is in talks to play the villain.

Owen Wilson among a few names being considered for a new film

Owen Wilson, Jack Black and Jim Carrey are said to all be in consideration for a new film called, “Mr. Popper’s Penguins”, based on the 1938 children’s book of the same title. The story is about Mr. Popper, a house painter whose dreams of Arctic exploration prompt him to write letters to real explorers. One of them sends him a penguin, which he keeps in the icebox. Before he knows it, the painter has a litter of 12 beaked birds. They eat voraciously, leading him to form Popper’s Performing Penguins, a stage act that goes on tour and creates mayhem at every stop.

Ben Stiller may also end up being linked to the project.

Marmaduke box office bomb

As most of you know, Marmaduke starring Owen Wilson’s voice opened in theaters (in the USA) this weekend, landing Friday June 4th. The weekend box office stats put the film in 6th place, being topped by titles such as Shrek and Sex and the City 2. Make sure you show your support for Owen by taking a little bit of time out of your day to see this film.

Check out these two interesting interview pieces, the first one is from Digitalspy who talked to Owen about his outlook on life:

Owen Wilson has said that he is “sort of a pessimist” and has a naturally fatalistic personality.

The actor admitted that while he can sometimes have a positive outlook, he is generally more of a “doomsday” type.

“That dark side probably comes from my Irish background. I’m always worried about doing well in a movie and what’s going to happen to my career,” he told Parade.

The 41-year-old also revealed that he was a rebellious teenager before being forced into military service by his father.

“Growing up, I was the kid who was always getting into trouble. I liked not studying and goofing off. I used to roar around Dallas one step ahead of the law like I was in The Dukes of Hazzard.

“That all came to an end when my parents sent me to military school. I’m driving a Prius now, so it’s hard to go really fast. I’m a little more mellow as a driver than I used to be.”

“Its great being in a film with Ben,” Owen Wilson, a regular co-star, has said. “He worries about everything, so you don’t have to.” Stiller has two movies lined up, a sequel to Zoolander and another Fockers movie with Robert De Niro, but insists he is learning to chill out more. He laughs hard when I bring up the Wilson quote. “Owen is a unique individual who has the ability to allow himself to be in the moment and not worry about the little stuff. He does care, he just has a different way of approaching it.”
