I’m thrilled to find out that Jim Parsons (Sheldon-The Big Bang Theory) has been added to the cast of The Big Year:

See more about him at his IMDB page: HERE
Also new added to the cast list is Anjelica Huston (who has made appearances alongside Owen in several Wes Anderson films) and Rashida Jones (The Office, I Love You Man).
The film is still in “pre-production” status and has a release date set for 2011. Starring Owen Wilson, Jack Black, and Steve Martin.
Steve Martin has joined the cast of Owen Wilson, Jack Black and producer Ben Stiller in the new film “The Big Year”, scheduled to begin filming in Canada this May.

Adapted by Howard Franklin from Mark Obmascik’s book The Big Year: A Tale of Man, Nature and Fowl Obsession, the film chronicles the adventures of three contenders during a 365-day long quirky competition in which participants have to spot as many bird species as they can. This quest takes the three fierce competitors to strange, generally unknown islands throughout North America.
The film version of The Big Year is set to start in May, with David Frankel (Marley and Me) directing. The Big Year, by Mark Obmascik, is the story of bird watching. But not just any bird watching; fanatical guys who will stop at nothing to catch a glimpse of some of the rarest birds in North America.

Some big names are linked with the story of three men who brave any element to see the most birds in the shortest amount of time. Dustin Hoffman, Jack Black, Owen Wilson, and producer Ben Stiller are all going bird watching together (against each other?) in this interesting new comedy.
More details as they unfold.

Owen Wilson has been announced as being part of the 2010 comedy film The Big Year starring Steve Carell and Jack Black, produced by Ben Stiller.

Three rival bird-watchers brave hazardous weather, competitor tactics and unhappy spouses to win the North American Big Year, an annual bird-watching competition.
No word as to what part Owen will play in the film, but I’ll keep you posted as more news comes along!
